A Week of Adventures

How adventurous can we make our days?
I have five days. Five days that include schoolwork, housework, wife, mom, errands, phone calls, dogs, cooking meals (most from scratch), and in there somewhere, I have to find time for me, and for Play.

 What is play?

Well, it's making dough and getting flour everywhere. It's sitting on the floor and playing a game, coloring with the boys, or even playing cars. It's throwing ball with dad after dinner. It's learning to let some things slide, so the boys grow up knowing, that regardless of what needed to be done, mom and dad still had time for the fun stuff.

We had a great week. Besides the busted lip incident and the 2 some what large holes in the back yard-courtesy of the malamutes.

Tuesday, we spent most of the day at a botanical garden. We saw a baby alligator. Some butterflies that were new to us.  Watched as holiday lights and decorations were strung up. It's rewarding hearing the boys spout of facts about the flowers and bugs, and have a real excitement about exploring.

Wednesday, was a visit to a colonial village. Most from 1800-1900's Florida. We toured log cabins, old schools, churches, different homes, and learned about toys that kids used to play with. The kids pumped water from an old pump, saw how wash was done, and sat at the old school house desks.  Some how, we had enough energy for Lego Club later in the day-also pretty cool.

Thursday was meeting with some other home schoolers for play.

Lastly, today, Friday. Not much adventure today. But when the school work was done, two superheros proceeded to run around and imagine all sorts of fun things.  They changed costume enough that I lost track of who was which superhero, wielding swords about as big as they are tall. I'm sure they wish the furry Beast Dogs would cooperate more.

Me-I get to look forward to a mom night out with some friends. The boys will probably get to stay up a bit longer, seeing as dad will be in charge.  The event of the weekend is our anniversary. And that,  brings with it a reflection, all of it's own.
